Bigger and Better
Plants vs Zombies 2 takes you on a wild bus ride through time and space! Crazy Dave is back and he needs your help more than ever before. If the zombies in PvZ 1 solely wanted to storm your house and eat your brains, the sequel deals with the undead who have the power to alter history and change the course of mankind – one brain at a time!
This time around, you will not just protect your house – you will need to protect planet Earth from the omnivorous onslaught. With a bigger threat comes a bigger solution. So, your old plant buddies bring in new ones to weed out the flesh-eating menace.
11 Worlds to Explore
Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare Download For Mac Catalina
Out of the neighborhood and into infinite space and time! PvZ 2 now features 11 different timelines with multiple levels. These are all unlocked as you launch the game. Wherever you choose is up to you. But a reminder: the game becomes very difficult in the later levels to the point where you have to grind on other worlds to make your plants stronger and equip you with more defenses.
Stop the zombie menace from spreading in Ancient Egypt, cowboy up against the undead in the Wild West, zap down the brain-eaters in Space, and surfs up against endless waves of the horde.
More Plants than Ever Before
Quadruple the numbers of the plant catalog in the first Plants vs Zombies game and you have a sequel. Plants vs Zombies 2 has all plants of various shapes and sizes – each with its own unique abilities and benefits. Unlike games that require “meta picks”, PvZ 2 does not! In fact, there are never any bad choices in the game – only the play style and situational picks matter.
From the humble Peashooter and Sunflower to the fast-clearing Lightning Reed and Primal Potato Mine, Plants vs Zombies 2 has an unlimited number of plant combinations!
A New Leveling System
Unlike the first game, this casual game now implements a leveling system for every plant in the game. All your defenders used to have flat stats but now you can scale them. The leveling is similar to Fate Grand Order – you must collect materials specifically made to upgrade each plant – also known as Seed Packets. These Seed Packets are found throughout the 11 worlds; either in random stages per world or through a limited daily challenge. You will need these a lot if you want to advance through the late stages of each world. After all, you will want to upgrade your plants to their full potential if you want to destroy the big bad bosses once and for all.
Tower Defense Redefined
While the game mostly retains the original base gameplay of the first PvZ, the sequel increased the intensity. Repetition is absent in Plants vs Zombies 2 since every world has multiple play styles. The Cowboy levels require you to take advantage of mine carts, the Egyptian levels have random resurrecting mummies and some lane holes, while the beach levels increase the zombie’s speed whenever the water hits the shore. Every level is situational and every world has its own set of dangers.
Some also have multiple defense mechanics like the classic conveyor belt selection, dark mode, and lootbox mode where you are uncertain which plant you get to pick.
Remixed Visuals
PvZ 2’s graphics feel refreshing without straying away from the original art style. The music, the sound effects and the aesthetics of the first game are still present in the sequel. If you love 2D graphics and presentation, PvZ2 is a great choice.
PvP Mode in PvZ 2
Recently, EA has also implemented a PvP mode where you can either be Team Plants or Team Zombies! It’s all about strength in numbers as well as the power of the cards.
Reminder: Only join the PvP if you already whaled in the game. Mostly everyone in the game is a Pay-to-Winner.
Side Note: Be Warned About EA’s Tactics
I am not going to lie to you: while PvZ 2 is generally fun, the game was released by EA – and with EA comes great microtransactions and paywalls. Some plants are locked away unless you pay up. While other times, you get to cash-in in exchange for easy leveling. To this, we say do not ever give your money to EA – they are greedy and will do anything to stop your enjoyment unless you will pay up.
Other than that, the game is still good to play without sending the publisher a cent. If you are patient enough and willing to grind for days, you can still finish every world in the game.

Overflowing with charm, humour and a playful tone, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare provides thrills of multiplayer third-person shooters in a family friendly package. It breathes new life into the series, moving from mobile to PC and console and from 2D to 3D, introducing an entirely new way to experience the iconic characters that captivated us in 2009.
Garden Warfare sees players control the plants or the Zombies in numerous multiplayer game modes, where they work together or are pitted against one another. Drawing inspiration from other team-based shooters, such as the whacky cartoonish Team Fortress 2, Garden Warfare provides players with eight unique classes—four for either faction.
Gameplay
The Peashooter and Foot Soldier are the standard ranged grunts; the Chomper and the All-Star engage in close-combat; the Cacti fight at range; while the Sunflower, Scientist and Engineer support their teams in the fight to victory. Each of these classes has three unique abilities, be it launching area of effect attacks or burrowing underground, which provides that extra punch to spice up the gameplay. And, as if that wasn’t enough, players can find Flower Pots and Bone Piles around each multiplayer map in which they can place defensive turrets to further support their team, harking back to the series’ origins.
Cooperative play offers “Garden Ops”, a game mode whereby four players take control of the Plants in order to defend their garden from waves of invading zombies. Here, the gameplay stays fresh with “boss waves” whereby a slot machine spawns different boss zombies and rewards players with coins. Furthermore, as players can choose their plant-based class, gameplay offers a large variety of opportunities. Once the plants have defeated the final wave, they must escape to an extraction point and survive until the clock hits zero.
This game mode, of course, mirrors similar horde-based modes in games from Gears of War to the more recent Overwatch PvE (player versus environment) modes. Although these modes play well and provide an equal amount of thrill and laughs, Garden Warfare fails to add to the genre, instead becoming a family-friendly clone.
In competitive play, up to 24 players can compete in six different game modes. These range from team deathmatch and capture point variants to the more unique Gnome Bomb which turns the traditional CTF (capture the flag) game mode on its head. For those scared off by competitive online play, there is also Welcome Mat, which pits new players against each other as they learn.
Throughout all the types of play, players can complete unique challenges and earn coins which level up the player providing them with access to upgrades, character variants and various in game cosmetics. These all extend the game’s longevity. Furthermore, two months after the game’s original release EA added microtransactions which allows players to fast-forward their progress towards these items and upgrades in exchange for real-world currency.
Verdict
The real strength of the game, however, is in its playful mood and art design. PopCap managed to transition their characters from 2D into 3D without losing any of their unique flair or charm. As such, the light-hearted and family friendly art style means it is a game that can be enjoyed by any audience. That said, the game does suffer slightly by failing to innovate the third-person shooter genre in any way, instead providing a polished, universal art style to well established game modes. Furthermore the small pool of multiplayer maps and modes does result in gameplay becoming repetitive quickly.
Nevertheless, in the right hands Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare provides a polished multiplayer fps experience which can be played, and enjoyed, by anyone.
